Plauti
Plauti brings Excel-style editing to Salesforce. Dedup, mass edit, and data import with a familiar grid interface. I like it for admins who are more comfortable in Excel than in DemandTools or Cloudingo. The dedup features are solid; the mass edit is the standout.
Why it ranks here
- Excel-style interface is more familiar than DemandTools
- Salesforce-native managed package
- Strong for admins who want spreadsheet-style data management
Where it sits
- Excel-style interface more intuitive for spreadsheet-oriented admins than DemandTools
- Cloudingo provides stronger automated rules and fuzzy-matching capabilities
- DemandTools supports larger bulk operations and better scheduling automation
How GTM Systems teams use it
- Mass field updates in an Excel-style grid instead of Data Loader
- Dedup workflows with manual review and merge
- CSV import prep with dedup and validation before upload
- Ad-hoc data fixes that are too complex for inline edit
In-depth notes
- Per-user or per-org license; check bulk limits
- Managed package; respects Salesforce security and validation
- The Excel interface is the main value; dedup is secondary
- I use it when I need to fix data fast and DemandTools feels like overkill
Best for
Salesforce admins who prefer Excel-style data management over DemandTools or Data Loader
Avoid if
You need automated scheduled dedup (Cloudingo or DemandTools is better)

Setup
Install the Plauti managed package from AppExchange and assign user permissions. Open the Excel-style editor and connect to your target object, such as Accounts or Opportunities.
First thing to build
Load all Accounts with missing Industry values into the grid, fill in the Industry column using Excel-style formulas or copy-paste, then save the changes back to Salesforce in bulk.
What actually matters
- Object and field selection: which records and columns to load
- Filter criteria: scope the edit to a specific record set
- Validation rules: ensure changes respect Salesforce constraints
- Backup export before saving changes
Watch out
The Excel-style interface makes it easy to overwrite data accidentally; always export a backup before bulk saves.
